Quick answer: To write a prescription online in Bangladesh, sign up for prescription software, verify your BM&DC registration, open the patient, search the medicine, set the dosing (for example 1+0+1, after meal, for 7 days), add an ICD-10 diagnosis, then print or share the PDF. With Prescriply a routine prescription takes under a minute and stays saved for the next visit.

Why write prescriptions online?

A handwritten prescription has three problems every Bangladeshi doctor knows: it can be hard to read, it is slow to repeat for follow-ups, and once the patient walks out you have no copy. A digital prescription fixes all three. The text is always legible at the pharmacy, repeat visits start from the last prescription instead of a blank pad, and every prescription is stored under the patient's record so you can see their full history at a glance.

Beyond clinic comfort, going digital gives you things paper cannot: standard ICD-10 diagnoses you can search later, a verifiable link that proves the prescription really came from you, and — if you sit in more than one chamber — automatic, chamber-wise fee and settlement tracking instead of a paper ledger. For the trade-offs in full, see our paper vs digital prescriptions comparison.

What you need before you start

  • A mobile number to create and secure your account.
  • Your BM&DC registration number for the verified doctor identity on each Rx.
  • Any internet-connected device — phone, tablet, laptop or desktop.
  • Optionally, your chamber name and a logo for a branded prescription header.

How to write a digital prescription online in Bangladesh

The whole flow below takes under a minute once your account is set up. Here are the six steps.

  1. Sign up and verify your BM&DC registration. Create your Prescriply account with your mobile number, then add your BM&DC registration number so your prescriptions carry a verified doctor identity.
  2. Open the patient. Search your existing patients by name or phone, or add a new patient with name, age, sex and contact in a few seconds.
  3. Search the drug catalog. Type a brand or generic name to pick from the 25,000+ Bangladeshi medicine catalog — strength and form are filled in for you.
  4. Set the dosing. Choose the schedule, timing and duration — for example 1+0+1, after meal, for 7 days — and Prescriply renders a clean Bangla dosing line.
  5. Add an ICD-10 diagnosis. Use the ICD-10 type-ahead to attach a standard, coded diagnosis so your records stay consistent and searchable.
  6. Print or share the prescription. Print a chamber-branded PDF, or share it with the patient by WhatsApp, PDF download or a secure verification link.

1. Sign up and verify your BM&DC registration

Register with your mobile number and add your BM&DC registration number. This is a one-time step. From then on every prescription you create is tied to your verified doctor identity, and each one can carry a public authenticity link a patient or pharmacy can open to confirm it genuinely came from you. To go deeper, read BM&DC verification and verified digital prescriptions.

2. Open the patient

Search your existing patients by name or phone number, or add a new one with name, age, sex and contact details. Because patients are saved, a follow-up visit reopens the same record — you do not re-enter anything, and the previous prescription is right there to continue from.

3. Search the 25,000+ Bangladeshi medicine catalog

Type a brand or generic name and pick from a catalog of 25,000+ medicine brands compiled from the MedEx Bangladesh medicine index. Strength and dosage form come pre-filled, so you are choosing from the same brands you already prescribe in your chamber — not a foreign drug list you have to translate in your head.

4. Set the dosing

Choose the schedule, the timing and the duration, and Prescriply writes a clean dosing line for you. Turn on Bengali instructions and it reads, for example, ১+০+১, খাবার পর, ৭ দিন (1+0+1, after meal, for 7 days) — the drug name and strength always stay in English. This removes the most common cause of dispensing errors: a dosing instruction the pharmacist cannot read.

5. Add an ICD-10 diagnosis

Start typing the condition and the ICD-10 type-ahead suggests the matching coded diagnosis. A coded diagnosis keeps your records standard and searchable across visits and patients, which matters far more than it seems the first time you try to recall how many cases of a condition you saw last month. See our primer on ICD-10 coding in Bangladeshi practice.

6. Print or share by PDF, WhatsApp or secure link

Finish by printing a chamber-branded PDF for the patient, sending the PDF over WhatsApp, or sharing a secure link. Patients can also pull their own prescriptions from the patient portal using a one-time password — no app to install and no account to remember.

Tips to prescribe faster

  • Build templates. Save your common presentations — a typical URTI, gastritis or hypertension visit — as reusable prescription templates and load them in one tap.
  • Keep a favourites list. Mark the drugs you prescribe most so they surface first instead of searching the full catalog each time.
  • Let your assistant run the front desk. A scoped assistant account can register patients, take fees and manage the serial and queue while you focus only on prescribing. More on this in digital serial & queue management.

Frequently asked questions

Is it legal for a doctor in Bangladesh to write prescriptions online?

Yes. A digital prescription is the same clinical document as a paper one — it carries your name, BM&DC registration and signature line. You remain responsible for the prescribing decision; the software only records and formats it. Prescriply is built for registered doctors and links each prescription to your verified BM&DC identity.

Do I need a computer, or can I prescribe from my phone?

Either works. Prescriply runs in any modern browser and installs as a PWA on Android and iOS, so you can write a prescription from a phone, tablet, laptop or desktop with the same account and the same data.

How long does it take to write one prescription?

With saved templates and favourite drugs, a routine prescription takes under a minute. The drug catalog auto-fills strength and form, and the dosing picker turns a few taps into a complete, readable instruction line.

Where do the medicines come from — is the drug list accurate for Bangladesh?

Prescriply ships a catalog of 25,000+ Bangladeshi medicine brands compiled from the MedEx Bangladesh medicine index, so you search the same brand and generic names you already use in your chamber rather than a foreign drug list.

How does the patient receive the prescription?

You can print a chamber-branded PDF, send the PDF by WhatsApp, or share a secure link. The patient can also retrieve their prescriptions from the patient portal using a one-time password (OTP) — no app or account required.

Can my assistant create prescriptions for me?

No. Assistants can register patients, record visits and fees, and run the serial and queue from a scoped account, but they cannot create or edit prescriptions. Only the doctor prescribes. Paid plans include assistant seats: one on Pro and up to ten on Clinic.

What does it cost to start?
